Application Process Common Questions

Show/Hide All Answers
How do I start the application process?

To learn about careers with Esri, we recommend that you spend time reviewing our website to get a feel for who we are, the type of work we do, our working environment, our culture, and the people that make up the Esri team.

What is the best way to find open positions?

Click on the "Search Jobs" link, select your search criteria, and then click the "Search" button. If after reviewing the results you decide to perform another search, you can repeat the process on the same page.

Where can I find information about where I might fit at Esri?

From the home page you can easily see the departments within Esri. Choose one that interests you for an overview of the work done by that group and to see current opportunities. You might also wish to browse through the employee profiles to learn about the variety of careers at Esri. Recent graduates can match their degree to a list of entry-level positions to see which department might be best for them.

How do I submit my application?

After finding a position that interests you and ensuring that you meet the requirements, click the "Apply for this job" button on the posting.

You can upload your resumé, a cover letter, and up to two additional documents; however, if you have previously uploaded these documents, they will be automatically included with your application. It is not necessary to address your cover letter to a specific Esri employee. "Dear Hiring Manager" is commonly used. Most common text and image file types are allowed; if you attempt to upload an incompatible file type you will receive an error message. The maximum size of a single file upload is 1MB. Please do not submit documents that have changes tracked or that are password protected. All documents should be in English. A new window is opened for the file search, so you cannot use a popup blocker program.
What if I forget my user name and/or password?

If you already have an account and try to establish a new one, you will get a message that your e-mail account is already in use. To request the user name and/or password associated with your e-mail address, click the "Retrieve Password" link on the Welcome page. In the pop-up window, enter your e-mail address and click the "Ok" button. You will receive an e-mail that includes a link to reset your login. You will then be prompted to change your password. Once your password has been reset, please logout and return to the main page to login.

How long after submitting my resumé will I hear from Esri?

You will get an e-mail confirmation that your application was received. It is then made available to Esri recruiters who specialize in matching your skills, strengths, and areas of interest to current openings. A recruiter will review your application and, if there is an appropriate fit, will forward it to the hiring manager(s) for further review. If a manager wants to pursue your application, a recruiter will contact you to discuss career opportunities at Esri. Due to the high volume of applications we receive, this process can take two weeks or more.

How does the interview process work?

If it is determined you are a potential candidate, an Esri recruiter will contact you and conduct a brief phone interview. The interviewer will then determine whether to pursue bringing you in for face-to-face interviews with the hiring manager and other staff members. After the first round of interviews, depending on the nature of the position, you may be asked to come back at a later date to interview with corporate management. You should expect the entire interview process to span a period of several weeks.

How can I check the status of my application?

Log in to your account and click the "View the status of jobs you have applied to" link. There you will be able to see where your application stands in the various phases of our review process.
