ESRI has established the Center for Innovative Geospatial Technology (CIGT) which is based and administered from its headquarters facility located in Redlands, California.

CIGT carries out projects involving the advanced and innovative application of GIS technology as well as related and specialized geospatial research and development.

CIGT is supported primarily by staff from ESRI Professional Services but capitalizes on the specialized skills and experience of staff across the entire ESRI organization. CIGT often works in close collaboration with the Redlands Institute at the University of Redlands.
