New Books from ESRI Press

Children Map the World
This beautiful book presents one hundred drawings by children from around the world submitted to the Barbara Petchenik Children's World Map Competition, sponsored by the International Cartographic Association. This is an imaginative collection by young artists ranging in age from five to fifteen that expresses their hopes, wishes, and fears for their world. Proceeds from the sale of this book will go toward graphic literacy promotions that target developing countries and disadvantaged learners.

GIS Worlds
This book provides an overview of the developments that have taken place with Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDIs) over the last 10 to 15 years. Author Ian Masser focuses on the new policy options and the institutional structures associated with the formulation and implementation of SDI initiatives. SDIs are defined as the technology, policies, standards, human resources, and related activities necessary to acquire, process, distribute, use, maintain, and preserve spatial data.

Fun with GPS
Millions of people love their GPS (global positioning system) devices but don't know they can use this amazing technology to do more-much more-than simply calculate location. The dozens of illustrated examples in this lively guide show how GPS devices can be attached to just about anything (or anyone) to track and map their activities. The book also discusses ways to incorporate GPS technology in the classroom to reinforce science, math, and geography curricula, provide groundwork for project-based learning, and show students that their schoolwork is important and relevant.
