The Census 2000 database contains more than 4,700 variables including demographic data items such as

The following data files are part of the Census 2000 data.
- Census 2000 Redistricting Data (P.L.94-1711) Summary File. This summary file was the first Census 2000 data made available and was released in March/April 2001. It contains population counts used for legislative redistricting.
- Census 2000 Summary File 1 (SF 1) 100-Percent Data. This summary file was released by the Census Bureau on a rolling basis throughout 2001, with a final national release in May/June 2001. SF 1 includes population counts for 63 race categories and housing characteristics for selected populations.
- Census 2000 Summary File 3 (SF 3) 100-Percent Data. Based on a sample of approximately 19 million housing units, this summary file includes detailed tables of Census 2000 population and housing characteristics, such as education, employment, income, home value, and rent. The Census Bureau released the data in August/September 2002.
