Recent Changes to U.S. Geography

In the past year, the Office of Management and Budget made minor changes to metropolitan areas, Nielsen Media Research revised designated market area (DMA) boundaries, and the U.S. Postal Service adjusted ZIP Codes.

  • New Micropolitan Statistical Area: Show Low, Arizona (Navajo County)
  • Name and code revisions:
    • Bradenton-Sarasota-Venice, Florida, Metropolitan Statistical Area (CBSA Code 14600, formerly 42260)
    • Helena-West Helena, Arkansas, Micropolitan Statistical Area (CBSA Code 25760, formerly 48340)
    • Washington Court House, Ohio, Micropolitan Statistical Area (CBSA Code 47920, formerly 47860)
  • 940 core-based statistical areas (CBSA) in the United States
  • 363 metropolitan areas in the United States
  • 577 micropolitan areas in the United States
  • ZIP Codes in the 2008/2013 forecasts reflecting the November 2007 inventory
