Indonesian Earthquake
On May 27, 2006 a magnitude 6.3 earthquake occurred on the island of Java, Indonesia. Other tremors exceeded magnitudes of 6.0 in the Papua region. In the active quake zone, communities were leveled with hundreds of thousands left homeless and more than 6,000 people dead.
