June 26, 2013
Brian Matsubara, head of Global Technology Alliances at Amazon Web Services, will keynote the Survey Summit
July 6–9 in San Diego, California. The Survey Summit attracts a geospatial community that works with high-accuracy mapping, surveying, and civil engineering. This year, the event will focus on modernizing business with technology such as lidar, 3D, GPS, GIS, and the cloud. Following the Survey Summit, attendees can join the Esri International User Conference (Esri UC) Plenary Session and Map Gallery, along with paper sessions on survey; architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC); and land records.
At the Survey Summit, Matsubara will discuss how Amazon, the world's largest online retailer, got its start and tell about what it's like to work there, including company culture and leadership principles. He will give insight into how Amazon moves forward with emerging technologies and will share some of the lessons he has learned along the way.
“Land surveyors and AEC professionals are searching for new ways to diversify and increase their business service offerings,” said David Totman, public works, AEC, and survey industry manager at Esri. “Brian Matsubara’s story about the rise of Amazon—its captivating products and industry leadership—will really encourage the Esri Survey Summit crowd.”
Matsubara has more than 14 years of experience in pushing emerging technologies into the enterprise market. He has worked with commercial and open-source software, direct and channel sales, and large technology companies, as well as start-ups.
