ArcGIS Runtime SDK for Android Bootcamp

This one-day seminar is composed of problem-based activities to help developers experience the ArcGIS Runtime SDK. Attendees discover how to integrate geospatial data, maps, and GIS capabilities into native Android applications.  While working together, attendees learn how to build applications to support connected and disconnected workflows, interactive mapping, and data visualization. After discussions of editing and spatial analysis, attendees work to deploy a distributable mapping application to their Android devices.

Level: Intermediate

Audience: Experienced Android developers who want to include ArcGIS services and functionality in their applications


  • Familiarity with ArcGIS and basic GIS concepts is recommended.
  • Proficiency in Android development patterns is required.
  • Completion of Introduction to the ArcGIS for Server REST API or equivalent knowledge is required.

Building Foundation of Your 3D World

The use of the ArcGIS platform for 3D data visualisation and analysis is rapidly growing. This workshop has been developed to help you get your organisational data ‘3D ready’ and start working with it in a streamlined manner. During the number of practical exercises you will learn a number of key tools, workflows and approaches.

Topics include:

  • Automating 3D workflows using ModelBuilder (e.g. 3D building extraction from LiDAR)
  • Using new 10.2 geoprocessing tools to transform 2D data to 3D
  • Using procedural modelling and Esri CityEngine CGA language to create 3D geometries from 2D data
  • Utilise Esri’s 3D City Information Model(s) to create high resolution GIS enabled 3D cities
  • General tips for working within a 3D environment.

In addition to covering a broad program of technical content, there will be scope for discussion around the planning and direction of your organisation’s 3D strategy

Level: Intermediate


  • GIS professionals, urban planners, landscape architects, architects, and others who want to work with 3D city models for geodesign or other projects
  • Anyone who wants to learn about creating and interacting with 3D city models

Prerequisites: Familiarity with ArcGIS and basic GIS concepts are recommended.
