Greg has a background in regional planning and GIS. He completed his undergraduate studies at Frostburg State University in Maryland and earned his master’s degree in geography and GIS from the University of South Florida. He has been a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners since 2008 and also became certified as a GIS Professional (GISP) that year.
Greg has used geographic analysis to explore a wide range of topics including those related to community planning and visioning, water resources, sea level rise, disaster resiliency, and transportation. He spent the beginning of his career at the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council in Florida. He now resides in Portland, OR and works for the ASPCA. His current work is focused on analyzing the geographic distribution of animal shelter data and assisting communities in maximizing the impact of their limited resources to save more lives.

Jon leads the retail distribution execution team, where he is responsible for the execution of all retail distribution programs impacting nearly 9,000 banking center and ATM locations. He has been a leader in the effort to resize and transform the Bank’s large distribution network. Jon has been with the bank and its predecessors for 16 years. Previously he worked for Equifax National Decision Systems, holding numerous leadership roles. Jon graduated from California State University at Northridge with a degree in economic geography.

Julie has more than 23 years industry experience, previously working as executive vice president for Willis Re’s property resource division, as well as building and managing Willis Re’s catastrophe risk modeling and advisory services division. Julie also worked for E.W. Blanch where she developed and managed their catastrophe modeling team, and spent two years at the St. Paul Group creating and overseeing their catastrophe risk analytics team. Julie has a Bachelor of Mathematics degree from the Institute of Technology of the University of Minnesota.
Chan Lee is a Sr. Analyst at Chick-fil-A Inc. whose main duties include development of mobile data collection tools, desktop forecasting tools and seamlessly integrating the two on an enterprise level. He works in the Real Estate Department but is helping to show the value of GIS to the rest of the organization.

Jeffrey “Jeff” Rivera

Jeff Rivera is vice president of national sales for Con-way Freight Inc, the regional and national less-than-truckload (LTL) motor carrier and largest subsidiary of Con-way Inc. Con-way Freight is the nation’s third largest freight trucking company, operating a network of 300 service centers in North America which daily handle some 59,000 freight shipments representing 80 million pounds of goods, providing day-definite delivery which supports the supply chains of thousands of commercial and industrial businesses.
Directing a team of national account leaders, Rivera is responsible for developing business with large-scale corporate clients and major third-party logistics providers, with a focus on working collaboratively with customers to develop and deploy lean-based transportation solutions to deliver continuous value through increased network efficiencies and improved supply chain velocity.
A 20-year veteran of the global logistics industry with experience in lean manufacturing and warehousing, material flow and supply chain process engineering, Rivera was previously vice president of Eastern area operations for Con-way Freight. In this position he was responsible for management and performance of the company’s LTL freight network operations in the eastern United States and Canada, comprising 100 service centers with 6,800 employees. Prior to joining Con-way Freight in 2012, Rivera spent nine years in leadership positions with sister company Menlo Worldwide Logistics. Before joining Menlo, he worked as a lean manufacturing consultant and spent 7 years with General Motors launching lean warehousing start-ups and implementing synchronous material flow in assembly plants.
Rivera is a graduate of Michigan Technological University, Houghton, Mich. where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. He also holds a Master’s degree in Manufacturing Systems from Stanford University, Palo Alto, Calif.
Matt is the president of Datastory Consulting. He often speaks in metaphors and gets strangely passionate about the power of maps for business. Ask any of his colleagues and they’ll attest to his skill at making GIS and location analytics technology relevant and accessible to business leaders. He’s been at this mapping thing since 1995 and along the way received recognition from key players like Esri, SmartCEO, Towson University, and Maryland’s Governor Martin O’Malley. Matt is responsible for finding locations, negotiating deals and leases for Hobby Lobby across 20 states. He also leads the analytics team within the Real Estate Department where Matt has designed and implemented current predictive sales models used throughout Real Estate to forecast sales, where to place new locations and relocate locations. Hobby Lobby has recently begun using Esri and GIS tools to enhance the predictive models and share key information, data and maps across the company and within the real estate dept. He holds two degrees in Business Administration and Broadcast Journalism from Colorado State University and will soon be starting a Master’s degree program in Predictive Analytics from Northwestern University.

Booth leads the Market Planning team for lululemon athletica, a yoga-inspired athletic apparel company that creates components for people to live longer, healthier, fun lives. The Market Planning team leads the development of lululemon’s global store development strategy by working cross functionally to create long term store growth and portfolio management plans. Booth built the company’s long range market capacity model, develops market entry plans in support of lululemon’s global expansion, implemented a North American GIS platform, and supports the company as an internal consultant on analytical projects.

Matt runs the Business Intelligence Department for Miele, Inc., the US subsidiary of Miele & Cie., the world’s largest private appliance manufacturer. Based in Gütersloh Germany, Miele manufactures luxury white goods and floor care products that are distributed throughout the world. Peter Balingit joined PLRB in 1993 and is currently the director of catastrophe services, wehre he oversees the day-to-day operation of the department and prepares the continual stream of catastrophe services information that is made available to members. Peter authors the Catastrophe Blog, in the weekly PLRB Front Lines newsletter and conducts multiple web –based and in-person training classes on the effective use of PLRB Map, as well as many other PLRB Catastrophe Services resources. Peter graduated cum laude from Mississippi State University, with a B.S. in Operational Meteorology and holds a GIS certification from Penn State University. Peter holds a GISP designation and is a member of the American Meteorological Society, the National Weather Association and the Illinois GIS Association.
Geologist/Information Technology Specialist
Andrew is a geologist/information technology specialist with PLRB where he maintains catastrophe services data, refines and updates existing Catastrophe Services products and services, and identifies member needs and creates new products and services. Andrew also maintains the Esri platform at PLRB, which allows Cats Services to share weather/cats data across the web using PLRB Map, an online mapping app available to all members of the organization. Andrew graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a Bachelor’s of Science in Geology, and specializes in Esri software, geoprocessing and web development.

Sharon Palmer is a Divisional Director at Willis, a global insurance broker providing professional insurance, reinsurance and risk management services. Sharon specializes in geospatial and visualization solutions for clients and has oversight of the GIS team where she provides geospatial consultancy for both internal and external clients ranging from analytical solutions, modelling and platforms.
