Using ArcLogistics Route to Assess Financial Impact and Changes to Supply Chain When Opening a New Store Location
Presenter: Adam Pittman, ESRI Technical Marketing Specialist, Sales
Venetian Room

During this workshop, we will identify a new location for an upscale grocery store chain. With ArcGIS Business Analyst, we will evaluate various factors to consider when investing in a new business opportunity. Is the potential location in an area where other locations or business interests would be cannibalized? Who are our competitors and what are our competitive advantages?

Once we’ve identified a potential location, we will use ArcLogistics Route to optimize the trucking, shipping, and warehousing operations for the existing stores and assess how a new store location will impact the business from a supply chain context.

With ArcLogistics Route, we will

  • Determine which vehicle should serve each store location in the best stop sequence.
  • Accommodate time windows while minimizing travel times.
  • Find accurate store locations and calculate efficient routes.
  • Optimize resources by accounting for individual vehicle attributes (storage capacity, restrictions, special equipment, etc.).

Using ArcGIS Business Analyst Server to Improve Business Workflows
Presenter: Jason Grootens, ESRI Technical Marketing Specialist, Sales
Walton I Room

ArcGIS Business Analyst Server provides users with a complete platform from which to build geoextended business solutions. This server-based solution comes with rich datasets, an out-of-the-box Web application framework, and dedicated services to help GIS professionals solve complex business problems via intuitive, browser-based interfaces.

This workshop will demonstrate how to publish rich content and spatial analysis to provide business professionals access to GIS-enhanced decision making and workflows. Output includes report-quality maps, comprehensive report templates, scorecards, and attachments. These are encapsulated in easy-to-customize workflow templates that deliver a consistent and repeatable environment for GIS analysis and business process integration.

From Concept to Application—A Behind-the-Scenes Look at How the Plenary Demonstrations Were Developed
Presenter: Johan Herrlin, ESRI Technical Marketing Manager, Sales
Walton II Room

Based on the plenary demonstrations, this workshop will provide a behind-the-scenes look at what it took to develop each of the scenarios shown on stage. This workshop will cover the application logic, software architecture, workflows, and data that were used to build these compelling vignettes. It will also describe the level of effort required for each demonstration and the skills needed to replicate these in your business.

This workshop is targeted toward the more technical users who are already familiar with the full ESRI product line and are interested in how to turn an idea into a functioning application.

The goals of the workshop are to

  • Provide a road map for planning a GIS project.
  • Describe the best practices for implementing a successful project.
  • Help attendees plan for risks and avoid common mistakes.
  • Provide guidance on project planning resources (books, articles, etc.).
