Learn how to build powerful JavaScript Ajax applications using Dojo Toolkit, Dijit, and DojoX.

Training Outline

What do I need to bring?

Bring a laptop or desktop computer running the most recent version of Windows, Mac OS, or Linux. Unfortunately for this course, loaner or classroom machines are NOT provided or available. You must bring your own.

Why do I need this class?

Dojo is a powerful library and framework for building more powerful and useable web apps. ArcGIS API for JavaScript was built using Dojo. Knowing your way around will make you a more effective developer when you are using the API. Learning the skills for this course will prepare you for the more advanced JavaScript technical sessions to be held later in the week at the DevSummit.

Prerequisites

This course assumes that you have no prior experience coding against the Dojo library and framework, but attendees must have at least one year of prior experience developing web applications written using JavaScript code.

Instructor

John Paxton is a Senior Instructor at Accelebrate and is the principal of Speeding Planet, a training and consulting firm.  During the past 16 years, John has developed extensively with JavaScript and is the author of Accelebrate’s Dojo, Ext JS, Backbone, Node.js, and AngularJS courses.  A seasoned traveler, John has taught more than 60 courses on 5 continents just in the past two years.  He is also the co-author of the forthcoming book Pro JavaScript Techniques, from Apress. He graduated from Johns Hopkins University and is based in the New York City area.
