Self-organized Sessions at the 2016 Education GIS Conference
Self-organized sessions are dynamic and participatory. Anyone can propose a session, with interactive formats such as brainstorming and panel discussions preferred.
The self-organized sessions will take place Tuesday morning, June 28, in the Mission Hills room at the Marriott Hotel. An orientation session from 8:30 am to 9:00 am will be your chance to propose a discussion topic of your choice, and to convince others to join you.
The first self-organized sessions will run 9:00 to 10:00 am. All discussions will take place in one room, with each discussion having its own roundtable. At 10:00 am we’ll invite each discussion leader to report out to the entire group.
The second round of sessions will run 10:30 – 11:30 am, followed again by reports. Reports could take the form of a lightning talk or a post in our conference Facebook page.
What discussion topic might you propose?
- Creativity, the theme of the Plenary sessions
- Updating curricula to address app development, real-time and big data, and other emerging topics
- Innovative pedagogical approaches, such as gamification or competency-based credentials;
- Or any other GIS Education topic you have in mind!
Please plan to join us Tuesday morning!
