All authors submitting an abstract will be asked to choose a track category that best fits their presentation. You may choose only one track.
GIS for Administration and PlanningADM
This track focuses on the use of GIS in the administration of Education institutions
including facilities planning, redistricting, enrollment modeling, transportation,
safety, facilities management, and data access.
Using GIS in Libraries and MuseumsLBM
This track covers the use of GIS in settings such as libraries, museums, botanical gardens, nature centers, and other areas of informal education. Topics include providing data access, supporting teaching and research, collection management, and exhibit design.
Community Projects and PartnershipsPRJ
This track presents community projects done in cooperation with community groups or youth organizations such as 4-H, Boys' Clubs, and Girls' Clubs. Internship programs and other partnerships with government and industry are also presented.
Educational Research and Teacher EducationRES
This track explores research on the efficacy of GIS in education as well as strategies for providing GIS education and training to educators (pre-service and in-service teachers and faculty) to help them bring GIS into their classrooms.
Teaching with GIS in SchoolsTEA
This track explores strategies for teaching with GIS in primary and secondary schools. It also examines strategies for developing curriculum and instructional materials such as GIS lessons, books, and Web-based training.
Teaching with GIS in Higher EducationHED
This track focuses on strategies for using GIS to support teaching in a variety of disciplines at the college/university level. It also covers strategies for teaching about GIS technology in career/technical education programs.
Supporting a GIS ProgramSUP
This track covers setting up a GIS lab, marketing a GIS program, administering a site license, maintaining a user group, creating the infrastructure for an enterprise GIS across a campus, and other topics related to supporting a GIS program.
