Anthony L. Wilson

Anthony L. Wilson, as Distribution Vice President, is responsible for the construction, design and maintenance of the Georgia Power electric distribution system, which serves more than 2.3 million customers statewide. Georgia Power is the largest subsidiary of Southern Company, with more than 17,000 megawatts of electric generating capacity.

Wilson began his career with Southern Company at Mississippi Power in 1984. He held various positions there, including Manager of the Meridian Region, Manager of the Columbia Area, Assistant to the President, Assistant Plant Manager and Region Power Delivery Manager. In 2002, Wilson joined Georgia Power as Manager of Marketing Regulatory Affairs and, most recently, held the position of General Manager, Distribution Engineering, Construction and Maintenance.

A native of Biloxi, Mississippi, Wilson has a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Mississippi State University and an MBA from the University of Southern Mississippi. He also is a graduate of the Oxford University Advanced Management Program.

Wilson has been active in local and state boards, including 21st Century Leaders, United Way, Boy Scouts and the American Cancer Society. He serves on the Advisory Board of the School of Engineering at Mississippi State University, where he was selected as a Distinguished Engineering Fellow in 2009. He is a graduate of Leadership Mississippi and holds professional memberships in IEEE and the National Society of Professional Engineers. He serves on the Distribution Executive Committee of the Electric Power Research Institute and the Power Delivery Committee of the Association of Edison Illuminating Companies.
