Sightseeing tours

Shopping

Eger Karl Johan—Norway's largest collection of exclusive brands under one roof is located at Egertorget on Karl Johans gate in the center of Oslo.

Oslo City shopping center—Opened in 1988, it is Norway's most visited shopping center, with over 90 different shops and restaurants on five floors. It is located downtown, right across the street from Oslo Central Station.

Aker Brygge shopping—Billed as Oslo's no. 1 destination for shopping, dining, and entertainment. Aker Brygge is not a mainstream shopping mall but more like a small city, with over 60 stores and 35 restaurants.

Byporten shopping—A shopping center with 73 shops and 13 restaurants/cafés, located right next to Oslo Central Station, Byporten shopping offers shops that you don't find in other places, including small, exotic shops and interesting speciality stores, as well as Norway's biggest Egon Restaurant and a Scandic Hotel.

Karl_Johans_Gate—The main street of Oslo, the street was named in honor of King Charles III John, who was also King of Sweden as Charles XIV John. Karl Johans Gate is a composite of several older streets that used to be separate thoroughfares. The street includes many of Oslo's tourist attractions: the Royal Palace, Central Station, Stortinget, the National Theatre, the old University Buildings, the Palace Park, and the pond ("Spikersuppa") at Eidsvolls plass that serves as a skating rink in winter.

Glasmagasinet—One of Norway's oldest and most famous department stores, it has a wide selection of glass, crystal, cosmetics, and many small gift shops plus 24 fashion stores, interior articles, and the nation's largest kitchenware department.

Historical/Cultural Attractions

The Vigeland Park
The Vigeland Park is the world's largest sculpture park made by a single artist and is one of Norway's most popular tourist attractions. The park is open to visitors year-round.

The Ski Museum
This museum opened in 1923 and is the world's oldest museum of skiing. Here, you can experience 4,000 years of exciting "skihistorie" through an unforgettable show.

The National Museum
The National Museum holds, preserves, exhibits, and promotes public knowledge about Norway's most extensive collections of art, architecture, and design.

Oslo City Hall
The City Hall is Oslo's main venue for local government representation, annually conducting approximately 350 events of different sizes. Local conditions from time to time will require closure on short notice of the City Hall Museum to the public.

The Norwegian National Opera & Ballet House
The Norwegian National Opera & Ballet House in Oslo is at the head of the Oslo Fjord. Here you can catch great performances and views of Oslo and enjoy good food at the restaurant.

Norsk Folkemuseum
Norsk Folkemuseum is Norway's largest museum of cultural history, featuring the world's oldest open air museum and large indoor collections.

The Viking Ship Museum
The Museum of Cultural History is one of Norway's largest cultural history museums. It holds the country's largest prehistoric and medieval archaeological collections, including the Viking ships at Bygdøy, a substantial collection of medieval church objects, a collection of antiquities from the Mediterranean countries, and a rune archive.

Akershus Fortress
Akershus Fortress, located in the city center by the Oslo Fjord, is a great place to discover Oslo's history and a beautiful place to enjoy a nice sunny day.
