Section Chief in the Planning Branch of the National Exercise Division, FEMA
Marc Tagliento is a Section Chief in the Planning Branch of the National Exercise Division (NED) and is responsible for implementing the National Exercise Program, to include the planning for, design, and delivery of the biennial Capstone Exercise, as well as Senior Official Exercises, to include Senior Level Exercise and Principal-Level Exercises – and National Special Security Events. He is, as well, the Program Manager for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program.
Prior to NED, Mr. Tagliento served as Chief of the NIMS Implementation and Development Branch at FEMA National Integration Center. His duties included primary development of implementation guidance of the National Incident Management System, to include the drafting and promulgation of resource typing and job title/position qualification definitions. Additionally, he led the regular review and revision of NIMS doctrine.
Mr. Tagliento’ s experience includes providing technical assistance for local, State, territorial, Tribal, governments, while assisting with NIMS implementation matters for hospitals and healthcare organizations, nongovernmental organizations, and the private sector. He was a principle developer of the NIMS Compliance Assistance Support Tool (NIMSCAST), released annually to support State, territory, Tribal, and local government self-assessment of NIMS implementation, since 2006.
Mr. Tagliento holds an M.A. with a concentration in applications of American government from the School of Public Affairs at The American University in Washington, D.C.
