Sonny Beech

National Sales Manager, GISinc

Sonny Beech has been in the GIS industry for over two decades. He started his career as a GIS analyst and programmer for several municipalities prior to a career shift to the private sector where he worked for an environmental remediation firm, before joining GISinc in 1995. In 2002 Sonny was hired by Esri and moved to Atlanta to develop a sales team and manage a newly formed office. After seven years with Esri, Sonny returned to Birmingham as GISinc’s National Sales Manager. He now serves as IoT Business Development Manager, helping organizations identify solutions to translate data and technology into unique solutions that can be leveraged to solve current and future business challenges.

Seann G. Bernshaw, Ph.D. abd

Chief Data Scientist, PACIFIC Digital Group

Seann Bernshaw, Ph.D. abd, leads PACIFIC’s technology team as chief data scientist and system architect. Using big data analytics and GIS, PACIFIC has developed a unique and innovative digital marketing application that integrates ESRI geospatial analytics. Previously, Mr. Bernshaw was chairman and managing director at Tower Analytics Pvt. Ltd. India. Mr. Bernshaw is also known for his extensive management background in the telecom industry and for cellular RF propagation studies and analysis. Formerly, Mr. Bernshaw was project manager and statistician for SysteMetrics, where he built the first large-scale health care database for the National Center for Health Services Research and conducted studies on hospital catchment areas. Danjal Bout

Assistant Director of Response, Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (CalOES)

Danjel Bout serves as the Assistant Director for Response for the Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (CalOES) where he is responsible for CalOES’s Response programs, including Fire & Rescue, Law Enforcement, Cyber, Critical Infrastructure Protection, Hazardous Materials, Telecommunications, the State Warning Center, the State Threat Assessment Center, the State Operations Center, Response Operations and Regional Operations. Danjel has over twenty years of experience in the public sector, including service in the armed forces, homeland security, and emergency management. Prior to his appointment as the Assistant Director, he served as a Lieutenant Colonel in the National Guard with the primary responsibility for coordinating and integrating defense civil support capabilities across all emergency management functions. Danjel has a PhD in Organizational Psychology from Walden University, where he focused his research on in-extremis leadership, a MA from the University of California at Davis, and a BA from Cal Poly Pomona in addition to executive programs at the Naval Postgraduate School, the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Executive Academy. Danjel serves as a member of the Department of Homeland Security’s First Responder Group, charged with identifying, validating, and facilitating emerging public safety technologies and sits on the Board of Directors for the National Alliance for Public Safety GIS Foundation.

Caroll Campbell

Director of Operations, CCIM

Carol Campbell serves as Director of Operations for CCIM Technologies, Inc. During her 13 years with CCIMTECH she has worn many hats, combining sales, marketing, training and business development expertise. Carol is also very involved in the development and delivery of curriculum for courses designed for the real estate technology productsincluded with STDB including the Geographic Information Systems products developed by Esri.

Carol began her real estate career in 1986 as Vice President of Marketing for Sterling Properties. She held her broker’s license for many years and was active in leasing and sales of retail, office and industrial properties.

David Caribin

Director of the Boston Regional Intelligence Center (BRIC) and Boston Police Department’s Bureau of Intelligence & Analysis.

He has served in this position since 2010. While employed with the Boston Police Department, Mr. Carabin has lead the development and implementation of intelligence and analysis strategies to enhance public safety throughout the Metro Boston Homeland Security Region (MBHSR). Mr. Carabin previously served in analytic positions with the Department and has worked for the Department for over 10 years. Mr. Carabin has been involved in analytical, intelligence-led policing efforts with several noteworthy law enforcement agencies, including the Newport News Police Department (Virginia), and the Utah Department of Public Safety. In 2008, Mr. Carabin led the development of the State of Utah’s intelligence fusion center—the Statewide Information and Analysis Center (SIAC)—while serving as the Intelligence Bureau Chief for the Utah Department of Public Safety and SIAC’s Commander. In 2010, Mr. Carabin was awarded both the Emergency Management Magazine “Digital Distinction Award” and ESRI’s “Special Achievement in GIS Award” for contributions toward the development and implementation of fusion center-related technology at the SIAC.

Juan Manuel Carrillo

Geospatial Team Lead, WSP|PB Colombia

Juan Manuel Carrillo, Geospatial Team Lead, is responsible for developing activities including Cartography, Geographic Information Systems and Satellite Image Processing at WSP|Parsons Brinckerhoff in Colombia. He specializes in engineering projects in the sector of energy and natural resources. Prior to joining the company, he was in charge of Operations & Maintenance for Hydrocarbon Transport Infrastructure at Ecopetrol. Juan Manuel Carrillo graduated from the Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas in Bogotá, Colombia.

James Featherstone

President and CEO, Los Angeles Homeland Security Advisory Council (HSAC)

James G. Featherstone became President and CEO of the Los Angeles Homeland Security Advisory Council (HSAC) in March 2016 after serving the City of Los Angeles for thirty years. At HSAC, Mr. Featherstone continues to strengthen the Greater Los Angeles region’s crisis readiness and resilience by convening and connecting the private, public, and civic sectors through collaborative partnerships and strategic alliances, emerging technology, and research. Mr. Featherstone holds a Master’s Degree in Leadership from the University of Southern California, a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration from Union Institute and University, and is an alumnus of the Executive Leaders Program at the Naval Postgraduate School’s Center for Homeland Defense and Security. He is a Senior Fellow in the Harvard University Kennedy School of Government's Program on Crisis Leadership. Mr. Featherstone is the current Chair of the National Advisory Council for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

Tom Fidler

Executive Vice President and Principal, MacKenzie Commercial Real Estate Services, LLC

Tom serves as Executive Vice President and Principal of MacKenzie Commercial Real Estate Services, LLC with 38 active associates, and Executive Vice President and Principal of MacKenzie Retail, LLC, where he oversees a department of ten. Tom has been with the company’s Lutherville office since December 1996. Tom specializes in commercial leasing, development and advisory services, and has been involved in some of the area’s most prestigious projects. During his tenure with MacKenzie, Tom has sold or leased more than 2.4 million square feet of real estate, working with such clients as Upper Chesapeake Health, Hill Management Services, Inc., The Mills Corporation and Smith & Hawken. To date, Tom has participated in real estate transactions totaling over $1 billion in market value. Prior to joining MacKenzie, Tom was employed with Kiddie Academy International, Inc., a Maryland based franchisor of accredited child care learning centers. His responsibilities included the complete oversight of the company’s real estate department with a staff of 10 professionals operating in 41 states.

Jake Gdowski

Jake Gdowski, Manager with Alvarez & Marsal’s Insight Center, assists with product development and market research. Primarily focusing on commercial real estate, Jake leverages numerous data sources to help drive decisions. Graduated from Colorado State University and has been with Alvarez and Marsal for the past four years.

Abel Gonzalez

Regional Account Manager, Nivea

Abel González graduated in Business Administration Management from the Cantabria University followed by a Master in Marketing and Commercial Management at the ESIC Business School in Madrid. He began his professional career in a small manufacturing Company (PYME) and in 2010 he started working in multinational companies like MediaCom Media Agency (part of the WPP group) as a Research Manager. In 2011 he became part of NIVEA team where he gained experience in shopper and customer marketing. For the last three years he has worked in the Sales Department as a Regional Account Manager, responsible for External Sales Force.

Shawn Hanna

Retail Scientifics

Shawn has brought his analytical skills to a truly unique depth and breadth of projects: from pricing to real estate site selection, customer segmentation to P&L analysis. He has built analytical teams that support almost every area within the retail enterprise, achieving consistent and measurable goals. In addition, his graduate degree in Economics with a specialization in mathematical applications has allowed him to both take a leadership role and also remain intimately hands-on.

Amy Harrison

Global Market Mapping Manager, Nike

Amy Harrison, Global Market Mapping Manager for Nike, has been a part of the Nike Real Estate organization for the past eight years. Prior to her current role in Nike Global Retail Real Estate, she spent four plus years in the North America Retail Real Estate department, ending in the role of Real Estate Operations Manager. During her tenure in NA she was responsible for research and analytics related to marketplace planning strategy and new store evaluation. In her current role she manages all aspects of Nike’s global market mapping system run on the Esri platform: functionality development, training, best practices for analytics and application of system tools, and data resourcing and implementation for use in the mapping tools. The mapping system is utilized across multiple business units within both Nike’s Retail and Wholesale organizations as well as other departments at Nike.

Todd Henry

Senior Technical Manager, Dick’s Sporting Goods

Todd Henry is the Senior Technical Manager on Dick’s Sporting Goods’ Real Estate Market Research team. In this role, he oversees the geospatial data, technology and analytics utilized by key stakeholders to complete the company’s annual store growth program. Under his leadership, the Dick’s Sporting Goods Real Estate team migrated to the ArcGIS Platform earlier this year. Prior to joining Dick’s Sporting Goods in 2013, he spent 15 years in similar roles at Bank of America, where he also used the ArcGIS platform.

Shawn Hibbs

GIS Manager/Developer, Hydromax

Shawn is a certified GISP that graduated from the University of Denver with a Masters in GIS. He has worked at Hydromax USA for 2 and a half years improving their GIS to support projects related to the locating and assessing of water, wastewater, and natural gas conveyance systems.

Gregg Katz

Director of Innovation & Technology, The Shopping Center Group

Gregg Katz was born and raised in Atlanta, GA. As Director of Innovation & Technology, he is responsible for the creation and integration of the technology strategy for The Shopping Center Group. Using a forward thinking approach, Gregg’s focus is to create an infrastructure for data, analytics, social platforms, website, GIS, mobile technology and branding by leveraging information and tools to align the Company’s tactical plans and future growth with the needs of the company’s clients. Gregg joined The Shopping Center Group in 2006 as a Tenant Rep Broker. Prior to joining the Company, he spent 15 years in restaurant operations, consulting, marketing and site selection, including owning and operating a quick-casual restaurant group in Orlando, Florida from 1996-2001. A graduate of Boston University with a degree in Business Management, he received his MBA from the University of Florida. Gregg, and his wife Elena, are the proud parents of two amazing boys.

Jennifer Kuchar

IT Project Manager and GIS Manager, Ecolab

Jennifer Kuchar serves as an IT Project Manager and a GIS Manager for Ecolab. She is responsible for EcoSure’s Application Development and Information Systems development group, including field management and productivity tools, predictive modeling, operations management tools, and routing software. In the 4 years she has been with Ecolab, she has worked across multiple divisions to educate stakeholders in the capabilities of geospatial analytics and solutions. Jennifer has almost 20 years of experience in the GIS industry, including 15 years in the public sector, implementing real estate management solutions, Tax/CAMA integrations, and emergency management datasets. Prior to her position as the GIS Manager at Ecolab, she served as a Manager of the GIS Project Management team at The Sidwell Company with the primary responsibility of coordinating and integrating GIS capabilities within local government. She worked with over 60 local government entities implementing Geospatial solutions. Jennifer went to Ball State University for her undergraduate degree and graduate degree in Geography: Geographic Information Systems and Remote Sensing. She focused on Geographic Information Systems and Operational Management, with extensive research in housing discrimination and urban planning. She was President of the Ball State International Geographical Honor Society Gamma Theta Upsilon for 2 years. Today, Jennifer volunteers as a committee member for one of Ecolab’s employee resource groups and is the logistics lead for the companywide ERG Professional Development event.

Steven Laposa, PhD


Steven Laposa, PhD, FRICS is a Principal with Alvarez & Marsal’s Insight Center – International Economics and Real Estate in Denver, Colorado. Dr. Laposa has more than 30 years of commercial real estate, construction management, geospatial analysis, economic consulting, and academic experience in areas such as public policy analysis, urban economics, industrial and commercial construction management, institutional real estate advisory, global real estate investment analysis and strategy, active author in industry and academic publications, bankruptcy and restructurings, corporate real estate, and litigation expert consulting.

Chan Lee

Strategy and Analytics Manager, Chick-Fil-A

Chan Lee is a Strategy and Analytics Manager at Chick-fil-A Inc. whose main duties include development of mobile data collection tools, desktop forecasting tools and seamlessly integrating the two on an enterprise level. He works in the Real Estate Department but is helping to show the value of GIS to the rest of the organization.

Cliff McHenry

Director for Benderson Development

As a Director for Benderson Development, Cliff McHenry is involved in construction, property management and IT strategic planning. Benderson, a privately held company, owns and manages more than 700 commercial properties encompassing nearly 40 million square feet in 38 states. The company faced a challenge common to many businesses, how to most effectively aggregate data from multiple internal sources/legacy systems and assimilate the data as required to make sound business decisions in a timely manner. In an effort to meet this challenge, Cliff worked with ESRI Business Partners to develop a GIS solution utilizing the ESRI platform. While the company is still at the early stages, the results are recognizable. “The benefits of integrating data, documents and location cannot be overstated.”

Peter Pautnaude

Managing Director, Advisory & Transaction Services, CBRE

For the past year Peter has been transforming the Location Performance Analytics within CBRE. This organization includes the Market Intelligence Center, a national GIS team and predictive analytics teams for retail, healthcare and financial services. In 2015, Peter lead the acquisition of Forum Analytics making CBRE the first global real estate service provider to have a significant predictive retail analytics platform. In addition to this, Peter and his team begun the long term implementation of an enterprise location intelligence platform based on ESRI technology. With this CBRE has the capability to create advantage for their clients by leveraging the unmatched scale of their local market knowledge and data globally. CBRE has more than 70,000 real estate professionals in 60+ countries. Before 2015, Peter was the head of strategy and operations for CBRE's Capital One account for over three years. Previously spending nearly ten years with The Staubach Company, Peter was a member of the retail division’s Executive Committee and Market Leader Council. During his time there he managed the operations of a brokerage region, lead a corporate services group, and helped create a world-class national research and GIS team.

Lee Pearson

Lee Pearson has over 15 years of experience leading Sales & Marketing efforts with some of the most admired companies in their respective fields. Currently Mr. Pearson is the North American Marketing Manager, Refinish for Axalta Coating Systems (NYSE: AXTA). Axalta is the world leader in automotive & industrial coatings and has a 150-year heritage of helping customers succeed. In his current role Mr. Pearson oversees business intelligence, sales effectiveness and reporting, Axalta’s Refinish Performance Management (RPM) Program for customers and Axalta’s ProfitNet Body Shop Management System. Prior to joining Axalta Mr. Pearson was the Eastern Region Sales Director for Johnson Controls (NYSE: JCI) Integrated Demand Resources Division. Mr. Pearson was responsible for a team of Sales Executives, Account Managers and Sales Engineers working with Public, Commercial and Industrial customers on improved building & energy efficiency. Prior to Johnson Controls Mr. Pearson enjoyed over a decade with Giles & Ransome, Inc., the franchise distributor for Caterpillar (NYSE: CAT). Mr. Pearson held a variety of positions including Product Support Sales Manager, General Construction Sales Manager and Director of Marketing & Business Development. Mr. Pearson holds a BS in Business Administration from Bucknell University and an MBA from Villanova University. He resides in Unionville, PA with his wife and 2 children and enjoys time with family and all Philadelphia sports.

Alina Prigozhina

Head of GIS Development Team, X5 Retail Group

Alina Prigozhina is a head of GIS development team at X5 Retail Group, a major chain of grocery stores in Russia. She supervises GIS technology projects, mostly focusing on real estate and market research and leading the development new GIS functions and business applications. Previously, she worked as a GIS leading manager, geographic data analyst and research assistant. Alina graduated from Geography Department of Moscow State University in 2010.

Rosemary Radich

Business Intelligence Manager, AccuWeather

Rosemary Radich is a Business Intelligence Manager at AccuWeather where she leads the data science team to support strategic initiatives and commercial clients globally. In her role, Rosemary identifies market-place advantages and insights to increase client revenues and profitability, applying comprehensive analyses and application of robust data sources that inform predictive models. Prior to joining AccuWeather, Rosemary was a Data Analyst at Cox Communications where she conducted operational analysis to find ways to increase efficiency and played a key role during the phone platform transition from Cisco to Avaya. Rosemary has over ten years of statistical analysis experience and received her M.A. from Wichita State University. She resides in Wichita, Kansas.

Christina Schlenther

Head CatNet® Office, Swiss Re Zurich

As a GeoSolutions Expert, Tina holds a diploma in physical geography, geology and landuse planning from the University and the Technical University of Munich. She joined Swiss Re Zurich in 2003 in the GEOservices department, where she was responsible for Swiss Re's central geodatabase and started heading the CRESTA secretariat in 2006. After moving back to Munich, her home town in 2012, she joined Swiss Re's CatPerils team in 2013 and since then is heading the CatNet office.

Andreas Siebert

Head of Geospatial Solutions, Munich Reinsurance Company

Andreas spent his early career in the geo-consultant industry as expert for Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and satellite images working in various parts of the world. He subsequently pursued an spatial information and analysis specialisation, and in particular the development and installation of GIS, GPS and mapping tools in different institutions and international organisations. A geographer by initial profession, he has longstanding interests in natural risks, climate change and risk assessment. Since 1995 he is a member of Munich Re´s Geo Risks Research Team. His main interest has been the development of solutions and services to assist property underwriters and risk experts to manage their exposure to natural and man-made catastrophes by combining insurance information with (geo)scientific data. Since 2004 he is heading the Geospatial Solutions Department at Munich Re, which is today part of Corporate Underwriting. In the last years he was leading an innovation project focusing on the technical specifications and technical implementation of a global exposure platform and complimentary analysis functions to support group-wide business needs. Today the focus is on the linkage between business data and location intelligence. Based on new IT solutions (e.g. Hadoop, SAP Hana, ArcGIS Portal) many innovations are aligned to geospatial analytics and data management, leveraging Big Data and other analytics initiatives in the insurance community. In numerous lectures and articles in the geoscience and insurance community he is stressing the benefit of geospatial and mapping solutions in the holistic risk management of natural hazards. Since 2009 he is a lecturer for “Risk management –Global and external Risks” at the University.

Michael Startin

GIS Operations Manager, JLL

Michael Startin currently oversees Geographic Information Systems (GIS) operations for the Americas at JLL. In this role, he is responsible for GIS department organization and services development, which includes the hiring, management and career growth of GIS analysts who are strategically placed throughout JLL offices. Michael is an experienced team leader within GIS with more than six years of GIS application in commercial real estate. Prior to his position at JLL, he was the National Research Manager for SRS Real Estate Partners where he led a team of GIS-based research consultants, which supported the brokerage firm with visualization tools and market strategy.

Markus Wissing

Markus is a senior member of the con terra staff and has experience of 20 years in the field of geospatial technology and development. His key focus is on technical design and managing user requirements of server-based GIS systems, where he is involved in several projects as project manager and system architect. Markus has been employed by con terra since 1999 with a long experience in software engineering and system design. During his engagement, he developed deep analytical skills and the ability to develop innovative solutions. With proved expertise as a senior system architect he is an ambitious observer and early adopter of new technologies and paradigms.

Garry Burgess

Manager of Product Development, Esri

As a Manager of Product Development for Esri, Mr. Burgess is responsible for designing and developing business-focused application. Mr. Burgess leads a dedicated technology team in creating innovative GIS solutions for the business, real-estate and marketing industries and is the lead for the Business Analyst system. With more than 25 years of experience in marketing information software, technology, data and applications, Mr. Burgess has created award-winning software and web based solutions for the business marketplace. He also held senior positions for marketing information companies including CACI’s Marketing Systems Group and Compusearch.

Art Haddad

Art Haddad is the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for Esri in the area of Location Analytics. He has worked in the computer industry for over 30 years with 20 years dedicated to the field of GIS. Art is a Computer Scientist with a strong passion for GIS and all technologies. With over 30 years in the Computer industry, he has worked at Esri for more than 20 years and has a deep technical knowledge of the ArcGIS platform. He takes great pride in working with people to define, build, and deploy practical and sound business solutions applying geographic science and GIS technologies.

Dominik Tarolli

Global Business Development 3D Geodesign, Esri

Dominik is the Director for Global Business Development 3D Geodesign at Esri. He is instrumental in Esri's efforts for the 3D Geodesign market and works with companies all over the world in a variety of industries such as state & local government, commercial, national government, and entertainment. Previously he was a co-founder of Procedural Inc., the maker of the modeling software for 3D urban environments CityEngine, which was acquired in 2011 by Esri.

Helen Thompson

Director of Commercial Marketing, Esri

A recognized thought leader, keynote speaker and expert on spatial theory and location platforms, Helen has applied her entrepreneurial and technological passion to create a better future through geographically relevant decision making. Her 20 years of experience in applied spatial analysis has helped advance the understanding and use of spatial technology in business and society. Helen is an advocate for advancing analytics and geographic literacy. Every twenty-first century data set contains location yet most people and businesses remain blind to the importance of geography when making decisions. The Internet of Things, Connected Vehicles, Social Media and every purchase provides a geospatial exhaust that can be used to create opportunities or understand for both consumers and businesses. She believes this geographic context is central to creating a new society as well as solving some of our biggest challenges. These range from climate change and risk reduction to driverless cars, smart buildings, 3D technology and the ongoing acceleration in the interconnectivity of our world.
