State of Maryland—Leading the Way to Transparent Government
Using GIS

The State of Maryland is leading the way with GIS through years of state and local collaboration, all being brought together under the governor’s vision that geography is the common language and one map must be developed for one Maryland (creating an authoritative basemap of Maryland).

The Maryland Leads the Way exhibit at the 2009 ESRI International User Conference will provide conference attendees with an opportunity to walk along the road to GIS success. A timeline will depict the challenges that brought Maryland to where it now leads the way; and, at the end, they will be greeted by Governor Martin O’Malley.
