2009 ESRI GIS Grant Program for CCIM Members
ESRI and CCIM Institute, the largest commercial investment brokerage and real estate network firm in the world, have developed a US$1 million grant program. This program is designed to provide real estate professionals with innovative technology for addressing changing market conditions in the real estate industry and developing business strategies that maximize the ROI of their commercial investments.
ESRI's partnerships with STDB Online and CCIM have given many companies access to timely U.S. demographic information and analysis using GIS. The goal of this grant is to encourage real estate professionals to think creatively by introducing spatial modeling, with no risk, into their business decisions and workflows.
Categories
ESRI will award 200 grants within the United States in increments of 50 per quarter. Grants will be awarded to forward-thinking projects that improve workflow and enhance decision-making processes. Grant awards will be given in several property types including retail, office, industrial, and multifamily. Special consideration will be given to nontraditional commercial real estate ventures such as health care and specialized manufacturing sectors as well as small businesses, which are also encouraged to apply. Applicants need only apply once to be eligible.
Each application will be considered for one of the following two grant categories:
- Industry
45 grants each quarter (for a total 180) will be awarded to forward-thinking projects that improve workflow and enhance decision-making processes.
- SoftwareSingle use 12month license of ArcView and one (1) extension
- DataCustom data bundle that includes
- ESRI Data and Maps CD
- ArcGIS Onlinefor standard free services, streets and imagery
- Demographic data
- TrainingVirtual Campus Course for ArcView and ArcGIS Spatial Analyst Extension
- TutorialOne copy of the GIS Tutorial for Marketing Book to be given when the grant is awarded.
- BookUpon successful completion, each grant recipient will also receive a copy of The Business Benefits of GIS: An ROI Approach.
- Innovation

5 grants each quarter (for a total of 20) will be awarded to innovative projects that show extraordinary creativity in their use cases for GIS in Real Estate. These grants will include two additional software extensions and associated training in additional to the industry grant offer.

Eligibility and Qualifications
All current standing U.S. CCIM designees and candidate members are eligible to receive GIS software, data, and training from ESRI. The grant program provides the resources to allow CCIM members to employ spatial analytics and geodemographic data to find solutions to some of the major challenges faced in the real estate life cycle.
Terms and Conditions
Applicants whose projects are selected must agree to the following:
- Become a reference site for ESRI and CCIM.
- Allow use of organization's name in ESRI and CCIM press releases and educational marketing campaigns.
- Provide ESRI and CCIM with photos and screen shots upon completion of project.
- Submit a written project report within ten months of award acceptance.
- Complete a postgrant survey to provide ESRI and CCIM with feedback on the software, data, and overall program experience.
Additional ESRI Terms
- Use of ESRI software and data shall be governed by ESRI's current Master License Agreement (E204 and E300) which the Grant Recipient will be required to consent to at the time of installation.
- In the event the Grant Recipient fails to comply with the terms and conditions stated above, ESRI reserves the right to charge the Grant Recipient the full retail value of the software, data, and/or training provided under this grant program.
