Spatial Analysis of an Ancient Cave Site The October-December 2000 ArcUser Magazine includes an article by Holley Moyes, an Integrative Graduate Education and Research Training (IGERT) fellow in Mesoamerican studies at the State University of New York at Buffalo. Holley's work involved the use of ArcView GIS to manage and map archeological data as well as use GIS in novel ways to understand the relationships and importance of this data. The study focused on Actun Tunichil Muknal, a Mayan cave site in Belize, C.A. GIS Sheds Light on Underground Wilderness The Fall 2000 issue of ArcNews (Vol. 22 No. 3) includes an article describing the Cave Research Foundation's use of GIS at Hidden River Cave, located beneath the town of Horse Cave, KY. The article describes the formation of the Cave Research Foundation's GIS Resource Development Program, and how it used software obtained via an ESRI Grant to analyze the spatial relationships of the cave and pollution sources in the town. Map Book Gallery Online Features Cave/Karst Maps ESRI annually publishes a "best of" collection of maps, highlighting excellence in cartography or interesting applications of GIS. Map Book Gallery Online features many of these maps in an online format and includes maps.
