SAG Awards

Special Achievement in GIS Awards are given each year at the ESRI User Conference to recognize the extraordinary accomplishments of GIS users around the world.

2004 Winners

Kentucky is one of the most famous karst areas in the world, and much of the state's beautiful scenery is the result of karst landscape development. The Kentucky Geological Survey received ESRI's Special Achievement in GIS (SAG) award for its use of GIS for karst mapping. The KGS produces a variety of digital and hardcopy karst maps, including geologic, groundwater, and feature inventory maps, that are used and shared by businesses, organizations, and government agencies throughout the state.

2002 Winners

The City of San Antonio received ESRI's Special Achievement in GIS (SAG) award for its use of GIS to protect the recharge area of the Edwards Aquifer in Texas, one of the largest karst aquifers in the world. The project involved the cooperation of a number of other groups and agencies including the Edwards Aquifer Authority and the Texas Speleological Survey.
