of Engineers addresses the GIS Day
participants.
GIS Day in Vicksburg is an annual GIS meeting organized by the US Army Corps of Engineers Environmental Research and Development Center (ERDC) Labs in Vicksburg, MS and Esri. This year's meeting was hosted by Colonel Gary Johnston and the Geotechnical and Structures Lab (GSL), March 14-15, 2012. Participants included over 60 managers, scientists, GIS professionals and analysts from the four Vicksburg labs: the GSL, the Environmental Lab (EL), the Coastal and Hydraulic Lab (CHL) and the Information Technology Lab (ITL). Other participants included private sector participation from Esri, GIS, Inc., PenBay, Inc., Photo Science, Inc. and Zebra Imaging, Inc.
The theme for this year's two day meeting was: "Data Fusion, Making Research Real". The meeting featured presentations and demos on state-of-art GIS implementations, best practices and methodologies. The meeting also featured a Lidar Workshop in which users participated in hands' on exercises where they learned about new lidar capabilities in ArcGIS 10.1.
