Bird Hazard Map The GeoIntegration Office at Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska, was tasked with producing a new Bird Hazard map with the goal of decreasing the risk of bird strikes. The air force reports an average of 2,600 bird strikes per year with an annual cost of $38 million.

Naval Aircraft in Hampton Roads, Virginia In the early 1970s, the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) established the Air Installations Compatible Use Zones (AICUZ) Program to balance the need for aircraft operations and community concerns. The goal of the AICUZ Program is to protect the health, safety, and welfare of those living near a military airport while preserving its defense flying mission.
