ESRI's educational licensing options are designed to meet the needs of schools and districts of any size. Licensing options for GIS software are available for teaching, research, and administrative use. Commercial use is prohibited.
Licenses for Educational Institutions
School Building License
This is designed for instructional use that includes all instructional computers on the school campus as well as teachers' personal computers.
District License
This allows a district to use ESRI software throughout the entire district for teaching, research, or administrative purposes for a single annual fee. The fee includes software maintenance, access to Web courses authored by ESRI, ESRI User Conference passes, and technical support services.
Statewide Licenses
These are designed for use across an entire state and can be customized to meet the needs of the state. With a statewide license, K–12 institutions throughout the state can use ESRI software for teaching, research, or administrative purposes.
Licenses for Individuals
Administrative Subscription License
This allows administrative offices to perform functions such as demographic planning, school transportation, and facilities management. These are annual subscriptions.
Teaching/Research Lab Kit License
This is designed for instructional and research use and is available to educational institutions including schools and nonprofit educational research institutes.
Student and Educational Individual License
This is available to students, instructors, faculty, and other educators for academic or research use. These licenses are held by an individual person rather than the educational institution.
