As members of the 2003-2004 GIS Class at SHS we spent much time, both inside and outside of the classroom, working on our Community Atlas projects which, not only, enhanced our own learning, but also enabled us to contribute to to our community. This year members of our class presented at the Illinois Historical Society Symposium, to the Mayor of Springfield and to the District 186 Board of Education. We also presented a 2 ft. by 3 ft. map, as a gift, to the Illinois State Map Librarian who plans to display it in the Illinois State Library this summer. We hope that the insight and knowledge we have gained over the past year by participating in the Community Atlas Project has also benefited our community.
