    Bangor is located in the state of Maine, in the northeast U.S. This portion of the country is called New England and is comprised of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. Maine is bordered to the north by the Canadian Province of Quebec, and to the east by the Province of New Brunswick.  In terms of absolute location, Bangor is located almost halfway between the North Pole and the Equator, just below the 45^th parallel and just east of the -70^th meridian.
