Teenagers in Barrington sometimes call it Borington, complaining that the town offers few things to do. In response to this lament, a group of high school students is trying to get support to build a teen center in town next year. Among the recreational facilities that do exist in town are its YMCA (with indoor and outdoor pools, a gym, extensive fitness facilities, a skate park, and summer day camp for children); a number of public playgrounds, tennis courts, and athletic fields; and a Town Beach on Narragansett Bay.
