The Our World GIS Education book series was developed to enhance geographic information system learning for students of all levels.

Youth organizations throughout the world are increasingly including GIS as part of their regular activities, special achievement awards, and service learning projects as a way to offer members the opportunity to adapt cutting-edge technology to their traditional core programs.

GIS technology allows club members and leaders to explore firsthand through community mapping of topical issues such as biodiversity, the local effects of global warming, or the relationship between historical events and neighboring artifacts.

4-H and GIS

The 4-H GIS Program provides GIS and geospatial technologies to young people and qualified adults involved with U.S. 4-H clubs and related state and national organizations. It is created in cooperation with the National 4-H Headquarters, the Cooperative State Research, Education, and Extension Service (CSREES), and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).
