GIS for Petroleum

Article Submission Guidelines for Petroleum GIS Perspectives

Petroleum GIS Perspectives is a quarterly petroleum industry newsletter published by ESRI. This newsletter is specifically designed for GIS users in the petroleum, gas, and pipeline industry. The newsletter provides real-world case studies, relevant GIS software information, ESRI news, GIS maps, concept articles, and more.

This newsletter is coordinated by ESRI's Industry Marketing Division and is also posted on the Petroleum GIS Perspectives page.

Article Topics

ESRI encourages GIS users, partners, and associates to submit articles to Petroleum GIS Perspectives. Topics may include announcements of new GIS solutions and technology, explanations of GIS-related developments and trends, and discussions of concerns and successes experienced by those employing GIS for petroleum. Participants wishing to publish in the newsletter should consider the usefulness of the information to the overall petroleum community. Organizing information around a theme helps readers to follow your message. For instance, if you are writing about a technology, you may want to offer background information such as a statement of the problem, a history of changes, type of environment, and difficulties and successes. Also describe the technology itself: what it does, the scope of its influence, the solutions it brings, and the technology's advantages and benefits.

Article Guidelines

All articles must be connected to a GIS theme that is potentially useful to other readers. ESRI software must be named in the article. Submit articles in word document format only. Articles must not exceed 800 words. The newsletter's editors will edit all articles and make changes for readability and ESRI style. Writing assistance and articles developed through an interview with an editor are offered to those requesting support. Contributors must complete the ESRI Submission and Copyright Policy form.
