E9-1-1 Phase II Compliance

E9-1-1 Phase II mandates that wireless carriers be able to report the geographic location of an emergency call within 100 meters 67% of the time using a network-based solution. In order to comply with the Phase II mandate, wireless carriers must have accurate coordinates for their antenna arrays. Basemap Creation

CompassCom personnel are fully trained in the collection of GIS data using GPS - ingredients necessary to build a GIS from the ground up. Accurate GIS basemaps are essential for E9-1-1 dispatch, emergency vehicle routing, and telecommunications applications.

Ground Control for High-Accuracy Digital Imagery

Many GIS basemaps are created from aerial and satellite imagery. The imagery must first be rectified using accurate ground control points to remove horizontal and vertical distortions and tie the imagery to a real world coordinate system. CompassCom collects accurate control points on behalf of leading vendors of digital maps derived from remote sensing data. Building height and terrain models can be derived from this imagery, which are needed in planning telecommunications networks.
