Volume 22: GIS—The Geographic Approach

Mammoth Community Water District Groundwater Investigation

Mammoth Community Water District Groundwater Investigation
To date, there has been no scientific determination of the safe yield of the Mammoth Basin in Mono County, California. The potential annual volume of groundwater extraction is very uncertain, yet it plays a vital role in the Mammoth Community Water District (MCWD) water supply, thereby making high-certainty water resources planning difficult.

Volume 21: GIS—Communicating Our World

Niger River in Mali

A GIS to Manage Resources from the Inner Delta of the Niger River in Mali
DELMASIG is a GIS dedicated to managing and facilitating decisions regarding natural resources, farming, and livestock conflicts in the inner delta of the Niger River in Mali. As the largest tropical wetland (30,000 square kilometers) in west Africa, the inner delta has a fundamental impact on fishing, rice farming, livestock, and conservation.

Volume 20: GIS—Helping Manage Our World

Flood Models

Using ArcGIS and Flood Models in Emergency Action Plan Mapping
These maps represent the inundation at specified times resulting from a total failure of a certain dam with the reservoir at full capacity. The dam failure hydrograph was based on a previous study that predicted a peak flow of 712,742 cubic feet per second (cfs).

Volume 19: GIS—The Language of Geography

Pipe Replacement

Prospect Hydroelectric Project, Rogue River, Oregon
The project is located in Jackson County, Oregon, on the Rogue River and on two tributaries approximately 45 miles northeast of Medford, Oregon, near the town of Prospect. Lands abutting the project include lands owned by the U.S. Forest Service, state of Oregon, Boise Cascade, PacifiCorp, and other private landowners.

Volume 18: Geography and GIS—Serving Our World

Volume 17: Geography and GIS—Sustaining Our World

The Map Book Gallery features the ESRI Map Book series dedicated to acknowledging the important and innovative accomplishments of GIS users around the world.

Published annually, each volume of the ESRI Map Book showcases a small portion of the work presented at the Map Gallery Exhibition at the annual ESRI International User Conference.
