The ArcGIS Marine Data Model has some new information for you to see and download at the project's Web sites: http://dusk.geo.orst.edu/djl/arcgis hosted by Oregon State University and http://support.esri.com/datamodels (click Marine).
Coastal GIS 2003 Proceedings Now Available
Coastal GIS 2003, held July 7-8, 2003, at the University of Wollongong, Australia, provided information about integrated GIS approaches to Australia's coastal issues. A collection of the workshop proceedings, which contains a preface, 33 papers, and an overview by editors, is now available. To obtain order information from the Center for Maritime Policy, contact Myree Mitchell at myree_Mitchell@uow.edu.au.
Volunteer Divers Map Shark Habitat
Volunteers of the University of Queensland's underwater club Unidive in Australia conducted more than 600 dives at different sites, collecting information for creating GIS maps about the endangered grey nurse shark. Funded by The World Wildlife Fund and the Threatened Species Network, researchers used ArcView to map the habitats and characteristics of the shark. Read about the methodology and findings of this study and other user stories at Esri's Marine and Coast Web site at http://www.esri.com/marine.
