Atlas Map Legend
Brookline, Massachusetts, USA
|
This map is a page in the Brookline Assessor’s atlas book. It shows property boundaries with block, lot, and sublot numbers; lot sizes; easements; zoning districts; parks; streams; ponds; and subways. It is widely used in town departments and primarily by assessors for assessing property values. This is the first atlas book in Brookline produced using GIS. Previously all atlas book maps were drawn by hand, and updating was time-consuming and costly. With GIS, this book is updated when changes in the database are made, and it is less expensive to produce copies of the book for internal departments and the public. The original map and atlas design is by Feng Yang, GISP. Members of the Brookline GIS group contributed to the data development. They are Alex Abbott, Parvaneh Kossari, Kate Lomen, Terry Meyer, Steve Petrecca, and Lynn Thorp. Valuable reviews and comments from the Brookline Assessor’s Office were provided by Chief Assessor George Moody, Rachid Belhocine, Randy Kinkaid, and Linda MacDonald. |
