The Riverside County Integrated Plan (RCIP), “Blueprint for Tomorrow,” is a cooperative effort to address the exponential growth and urban sprawl currently underway in Riverside County. The county’s population in 2000 was approximately 1.5 million people and is expected to increase nearly 400 percent during the next 40 years. Accommodating a population increase of this magnitude will involve urbanizing thousands of acres of undeveloped land. Managing the planning process creatively in a manner that protects and increases a desirable quality of life while safeguarding the environment is a complex process and has been categorized into three basic RCIP components—General Plan/Land Use, Transportation Corridor Analysis, and Multiple Species Habitat Conservation Plan. This map document series depicts the organizational concept of the plan as well as details illustrating additional information crucial to the basic structure and implementation of the plan. |
