The Kansas Data Access and Support Center (DASC), in collaboration with the Kansas Legislative Research Department and other agencies, has produced maps of state house and senate boundaries for legislators and state officials. Mapping in ArcGIS allows for printing on demand, distribution in paper or electronic formats, and easy updates for future sessions. This special version of the house map, produced for the Kansas Water Office (KWO), adds the shaded areas of major river basins in Kansas. The maps enables KWO personnel and legislators working with water issues to see how issues affecting particular basins may house legislative districts. A similar map was created for senate districts. In addition to hard-copy versions of the maps, DASC has also developed an Internet application using ArcIMS called Find My Elected Officials that enables users to find the U.S. representative, state senator and representative, and state school board member for any location in Kansas. The application is available in the Online Maps section of the Kansas Geospatial Community Commons Web site. |
