Information Technology Outreach Services (ITOS) developed and produced county-level maps for six counties along the Georgia coast. The maps show the land area susceptible to inundation by a storm surge due to hurricanes of each of the five hurricane categories.
The map data came from the National Hurricane Center's Sea, Lake, and Overland Surges from Hurricanes model. The maps also show the elevation of the land, the coastal bathymetry, and topographic elements. County emergency managers use the maps to determine the safest areas for emergency shelters and the best evacuation routes. In addition to these maps, ArcView projects provide these managers with maps for on-demand analysis.
