Released by World Wildlife Fund Canada in May 2003, the Nature Audit is a groundbreaking report that audits Canada’s efforts to conserve biodiversity and provide an action agenda for the 21st century. Though the report found that opportunities to protect large ecosystems in more than 50 percent of Canada have already been lost, the Nature Audit highlighted strategies to protect, manage, and restore the nation’s natural capital.

As a part of the report, this map shows the current cumulative impact or footprint of human activities on wildlife through disruption to their habitat and ecosystem integrity in Canada’s ecoregions. For more information, visit www.wwf.ca.
