This display shows work done for a GIS course given at the University of Houston. Data from two sediment layers was used to quantify reservoir potential. Map 1 used geostatistics (anisotropic cokriging) to estimate the depth of the oil producing (lower) layer from point samples. Map 3 shows the depth of the oil trapping (upper) layer. The color shows differences between a simple estimation procedure (IWD) and kriging (OK). Map 4 shows a flow simulation of oil below the trapping layer toward the surface. Map 5 shows the fetch areas (basins) color coded by potentially trapped oil. The bar chart shows the most valuable fetch areas and their comparable extend.
