This map is a product of the GIS department of Region Vysocina and was printed from 3,000 pieces in 1:200,000 scale. It is distributed free of charge within the region to end users and the public. This was the first attempt within the Czech Republic to describe the process of administrative transformation in Region Vysocina (7,000 square kilometers). With cooperation from other regions, this new administrative map was published on the Web via ArcIMS (in August 2002).

Region Vysocina is an area of great changes in government. Today Vysocina has 729 municipal polygons. These small units are aggregated to larger polygons according to the branch of administration. New types of districts (205) are called “communities with enhanced force” and are shown on three types of map servers (ArcIMS, Minnesota MS, T-MapServer). Maps can be customized for particular needs and users can find a variety of maps including construction offices, registries, and tax offices. Data is regularly edited and updated. See Vysocina GIS online at http://gis.kr-vysocina.cz, which contains both a map gallery and projects useful for city managers, stakeholders, businesses, and citizens.
