Gwinnett County, Georgia, is a rapidly growing community northeast of Atlanta. This map is part of a presentation depicting how, by using the county’s enterprisewide GIS system and sources from several county and state agencies, Gwinnett County maintains a street centerline network with street, address, and other location information that meets the standards necessary to support the computer-aided dispatching of police, fire, and emergency services.

Using scanned images of recorded plats, text records of real property from the tax assessor, raster aerial photography, and vector features showing rights-of-way in the cadastral layer, county staff developed and maintains a data set of more than 28,000 street segments in an enterprise ArcSDE geodatabase. Extracted, the data passes through several processes in Tiburon Inc.’s Geographic Conversion Toolkit to prepare a geofile for the CADTi computer-aided dispatch system.
