Public Transport Optimization in the Liberec Region Project

Public Transport Optimization in the Liberec Region Project evaluates current railway and bus transportation systems. Optimization should contribute to higher efficiency of present public transport services with respect to the connection of neighboring regions and future implementation of an integrated transportation system.

The transport system analysis consists of the creation of digital geographic data—information modules such as timetables and number of people transported. The map shows bus stops and bus routes in the Liberec Region. Based on the data collected from transport companies during January and February 2003, a registry of transported persons was created. There are great differences in the use of public transportation in various parts of the Liberec Region depending on the population density.

This presentation consists of four maps. The first demonstrates the quantities of transported persons in different areas of the Liberec Region in a specified time. The second map contains routes classified by transport company. The third map shows the number of persons on each bus stop in the specified time, and the fourth map evaluates the use of transport segments between bus or railway stations in the specified time.
