Assessor's Index Map 2003, City of Waltham, Massachusetts

Applied Geographics, Inc. (AppGeo), has assisted the city of Waltham, Massachusetts, in developing its GIS since 2001. This map was created as the cover of a tax map book in the city assessor's office. The index map provides a complete street index list for residents to easily locate a property and view the detailed map showing the parcel information overlaid on the 1:40,000-scale orthophoto.

During the parcel automation, AppGeo and the city assessor achieved a 99 percent match rate to the assessor's tax record database. The parcels were accepted by MassGIS, the statewide GIS, as compliant with its Level II Parcel Standard, enabling the city to receive a $20,000 grant toward additional GIS data and application development. AppGeo is currently working with the city of Waltham to put the parcel data, as well as numerous other GIS data layers, onto a public ArcIMS Internet site.
