The Assessed Property Values maps show the assessed property values for every property in the city of Calgary using a three-dimensional surface in addition to the more traditional two-dimensional view. This surface is similar to an elevation model, but instead of the height, or z, values being elevation above sea level, the assessed property value is used to create a continuous three-dimensional surface.

These maps provide a new perspective on the distribution of property values throughout the city. This technique can also be used to show temporal trends (assessed values changing up or down from year to year) and can aid in new property assessment.

Surface models were created by using assessed values for every property parcel in the city. These were used to create several raster-based surfaces using inverse distance weighted interpolation. This technique assumes that each parcel value has a local influence that diminishes with distance.
