DayPop is a daytime population estimating/forecasting model. The primary output from DayPop is an estimate or a forecast of the number of people present at 10:00 a.m. on a typical weekday. The population estimates are based on analysis of the SANDAG 1995 Travel Behavior Survey combined with trip end data from the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) Transportation Trip Generation Model. Trip types, trip purposes, and time of day were the primary determinates of the daily population flow. Resident (nighttime) population is based on the 2000 U.S. Census and SANDAG's annual population estimates. These three maps display daytime population, nighttime population, and population change. |
