This map seeks to entice people to explore Oregon’s landscape through satellite imagery in map form. Someone examining the map carefully might find a favorite place in Oregon, retrace a vacation or travel route, or learn how a favorite mountain peak looks from space. As an educational tool, this map provides an excellent resource for geographic exploration at a glance.
The Oregon and Washington Landsat image comprises all, or parts of, 47 conventional Landsat scenes dated from 1999 through 2004. The images were color balanced and merged, one band at a time, starting with images acquired on the same calendar day. The remaining images were mosaicked by path. Paths were then radiometrically corrected and mosaicked together. Bands 3, 2, and 1 (natural color) are shown as a backdrop against some basic locational map information.
