The Israel Topo City maps are a new 1:10,000-scale series that combines a variety of GIS data into high-quality cartographic, topographic city maps. The city of Karmi’el, in the scenic region of northern Israel, was selected because of its attractive surroundings and topography.

The maps were completely based on the national GIS, using an automated workflow in one homogeneous environment based on Esri technology. The production consists of advanced cartography methods such as road symbology joins and selective masking. Planimetric information, such as roads and building structures, was derived and generalized from the national GIS database. The hillshade relief and the contours were derived from a four-meter digital terrain model and processed in ArcGIS Spatial Analyst to meet the map’s cartographic needs. All the symbology and annotations are based on attributes and were edited for final high-end cartography. The map includes streets, points of interest, and tourist attractions such as hiking and biking trails.
