The Israel Physical 1:700,000-scale map series depicts Israel in aesthetic shaded relief. Planimetric details, such as roads and streams, were partially derived and generalized from the national GIS database. The elevation and shaded relief were derived from a 25-meter digital terrain model. The Survey of Israel developed the symbology, production procedures, and workflow. This map was prepared using the most recent GIS methods such as automatic and hierarchical names placement and advanced symbology (automatic hierarchical symbology by tabular categories). Spatial Analyst was used to process the shaded relief. This cartographic product is the outcome from an automated workflow in one homogeneous environment based on Esri technology. The purpose of this map is to provide every school student with a handy folded map portraying Israel’s topography. |
