When Conservation International announced the revisiting of the Biodiversity Hotspots, the Conservation Mapping program was tasked with providing several new mapping products. The number of hotspots had grown from 25 to 34; many were new and most reconfigured in some manner. One of the new map sets required was maps for the Biodiversity Hotspots Web site. A small Web-appropriate map was created for each hotspot, and a similar map was prepared for each of the five high-biodiversity wilderness areas as well. Integration with Web site design restricted each map to a maximum pixel count, across or down, so map sizes vary. |
