This poster illustrates the ability to create beautiful, interesting, and artistic products using modern GIS technology and software. The main map image of the Three Sisters Region of Oregon used 10-meter resolution digital elevation data that has been combined with land-cover information derived from Thematic Mapper satellite information. The textural and tactile patterns were developed with special programs within the ArcGIS system. The images above are not photographs. Instead they are photorealistic visualizations created with Visual Nature Studio, developed by 3D Nature, LLC. This special software is designed to create incredibly real and beautiful images from GIS data.
