Riverfront Park Detail |
Situated in the beautiful inland northwest, Spokane, Washington, is located 280 miles east of Seattle and 375 miles northeast of Portland. With a population of nearly 200,000, it is the major commercial center for eastern Washington and northern Idaho.
The purpose of this map was to replace the standard two-dimensional city street map with a more user-friendly product. The addition of the shaded relief backdrop is visually appealing and provides a regional geographic context. The City of Spokane 2004 map was produced in ArcInfo Workstation using customized ARC Macro Language programs. Cartographic enhancements to the title block, legend, map index, and inset map were completed using Adobe Illustrator and Avenza MAPublisher software.
This map was made possible by the availability of a variety of high-quality datasets. The city’s planimetric basemap data was derived from six-inch orthophotography, and the shaded relief model was generated from U.S. Geological Survey 20-foot contours using the TOPOGRID tools available in ArcGIS. |
